It really was a memorable experience. The host was friendly and very helpful. The house, built from sandstone, is amazing. The garden is beautiful and the views of the mountains are stunning. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast.
A truly wonderful experience. Rensburg Hoek is made up by individuals and each of them contributes in his own way to the well-being of all. We felt treated like friends and never like paying guests. The place reminds me of a South Africa I thought does not exist anymore. A special experience was FEEL and our contact to the Arab horses, thanks to Elsie and Salome. Whenever a movie on African horse whisperers is made, Elsie deserves the lead role. She and her daughter were wonderful "facilitators" and the horses did their own. Thank you! If you are looking for an authentic place in a typical Freestate setting go there and enjoy the organic food, the milk, which is like cream, all the animals and tranquility, and -especially Salome's music and Matt's wonderful dinners. Or better yet: enjoy the lifestyle you are offered. We stayed three nights and I wish, we could have stayed longer.
It was a privilege to stay at Rensburghoek Guest Farm. We arrived as strangers, but left as friends. We experienced the way LIFE SHOULD BE, with them. Our interaction with Elsie's wild horses, Salome's music, and food prepared by our Swedish host Mats, were truly unforgettable! They gave us much more than what we paid for!
We just had the best stay at Rensburghoek Guest Farm. The host-family is lovely and very caring. They took us for a hike to their wild horses on the mountain at their farm, a trip to the river and gave us suggestions on other things to see nearby. A beautiful farm in a fantastic scenery. An absolute must! We will definitely come back, many thanks again, miss you already.
We had a wonderful time staying at Rensburghoek Guest Farm. The family are most welcoming and gave us great suggestions on things to do in the surrounding area. Sustainable and ecological farm life at its best! Hope to be back again soon!

We just had the best stay at Rensburghoek Guest Farm! A lovely family who took care of us in a great way. They took us for a hike to see their wild horses on the mountain at their farm, a trip to the river and so much more. What an experience, an absolute must! Beautiful farm, caring hosts and a fantastic scenery just a few hours from Johannesburg. Don’t miss out on this, we will definitely come back! Many thanks, miss you already.
It was a lovely experience but 2 nights was not long enough, especially as we also had a wedding and a dinner in Ficksburg to attend. Before we visited we looked at the internet which gave some information, but a number of things are not mentioned including the very warm hospitality that makes one feel at home. At present there is only accommodation on offer, and breakfast and dinner if wanted, but soon there should be a self-catering unit available. However it would be a pity not to have the breakfasts. Think farm milk, butter and yoghurt, beautifully balanced apricot jam, muffins and so much more. There are various routes you can walk, wild horses and interesting old buildings to see and the farm history is an added attraction. I hope to visit again to see the exciting developments that are planned for the future, and to have the dinners, which sound delectable. A small negative is that the entrance to the farm from the R26 is a obscure, and the short road to the farmhouse is bumpy with a difficult gate to open - especially if it is raining.
