Though Johannesburg is known to be frenetic and vibrant, this famous ‘City of Gold’ does have a distinctly suburban flavour in other more suburban areas of its metropole. The leafy and charming suburb of Boskruin is one such location and offers residents the best of both worlds – convenience and privacy.
Boskruin is one of the more middle class suburbs of Johannesburg and finds itself with the affluent Randburg as its neighbour. Indeed, Boskruin has a few neighbours namely Honeydew, Randpark, Ridge, Northwold, and Sundowner, and together they form a district of lovely homes, pristine gardens, laidback ambience, and importantly a very convenient location. Boskruin is under 13km from the Johannesburg CBD and gives its residents easy access to most of the city’s finest and most popular attractions. For those that don’t want to venture too far from home, the exciting entertainment enclaves of the Randburg Waterfront and Cresta Shopping Centre are just minutes away; both these amenities are jam-packed with fun and excitement and is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. For an upmarket shopping experience that will mesmerise you, the prestigious and well-renowned Sandton City is a mere 12km away.
Boskruin, furthermore, has a magnificent golf course just 2km away while sports enthusiasts can enjoy a game of action cricket or the pleasures and delights of a nearby ice rink. As the much-anticipated 2010 Soccer World Cup creeps closer and closer, visitors to Boskruin should be aware that 2 of the stadiums hosting soccer matches – Soccer City and Ellis Park - are both under 20km out from the suburb.
For a more down to earth experience there are guest houses. Less expensive than hotels, they offer a more homey environment, as well as more privacy. Converted from a private house it’s a much gentler environment and for those with furry friends, there are also pet friendly options. They are usually well situated with shops and places of interest nearby. Being so small it offers a much more personal and intimate attention to it’s upkeep, leaving you with a more polished and homely experience.
