Nigeria offers travellers a wide range of destinations to enjoy during their sojourn; one of the very best is known as the Cross River State. The Cross River State is a coastal province located in the South East of Nigeria and shares a border with fellow African country Cameroon. The state is named after the Cross River that runs through its territory and is ethnically quite diverse with a number of different indigenous peoples inhabiting the region; the predominant religion here, however, is Christian. There is a number of exciting activities to enjoy especially for those travellers who love the Great Outdoors and a thrilling adventure along the way.
Top nature attractions to visit include the Waterfalls of Agbokim, the Ikom volcanic-stone monoliths, the majestic peaks and plateaus of the Obudu Mountains, and the Afi Rain Forest to name a few. For those who prefer to have fun, but not tire themselves out, they can spend the day at the Cross River National Park, the Calabar Marina, the Mary Slessor Tomb, or the Calabar Slave Park. The Cross River State is also a terrific arts and culture hub with a number of excellent festivals held in the state during the year; visitors can enjoy the Calabar Boat Regatta, the Ugeb Leboku Yam Festival, or the Cross River State Carnival. The province is also host to the annual Calabar Carnival, which always attracts a good audience, and can be enjoyed during the Christmas holiday period. Another top tourist attraction in the Cross River State is the Tinapa Business Resort; this resort is being used by local government to become the ultimate tourism hub of the West African Coast as they hope to make it a pivotal port for all the major cruise liners to frequent.
