If you’re traveling along the famous Garden Route and are looking for the perfect stopover en-route to the city of Cape Town then the seaside hamlet of Gonubie is the destination for you. Gonubie is another scintillating location within the Eastern Cape Province and boasts dazzling sea views. This coastal village lies along the beautiful estuary of the Gonubie River and is a mere 8km outside of East London. Idyllic and serene, Gonubie is terrific for an overnight stay or even a few days where it is just you amongst the best natural spectacles Mother Nature has to offer. It isn’t terribly hard to relax and unwind in these parts – with the beach, lagoon, tidal pool and its wooden walkway in the surrounds, Gonubie exudes tranquility and calm helping to rejuvenate your tired body and mind. Unsurprisingly really, the beach here has the prestigious title of Blue Flag status; with its beautiful blue waters, white sand, immaculate and pristine, undulating fertile scenery, and receiving copious amounts of glorious South African sunshine it isn’t difficult to understand why swimming and tanning here is a supreme pleasure. As Gonubie’s popularity increases so too do opportunities spring up to enhance the town’s reputation as a genuine holiday resort. Plans are underfoot to build the hamlet’s very first shopping centre while Gonubie also hosts a flea market every second Saturday and has the very entertaining Gonubie Festival in operation each year. Gonubie, furthermore, has a terrific location and gives travellers easy and direct access to all the wonderful sights and sounds of nearby George.
Self Catering places can be found from rural to urban areas and can vary in what they offer. They allow plenty freedom and is a great inexpensive way to spend your holiday. They have been widely classified as a “Home away from home”. This is a good option for guests who don’t mind cooking their own food, and are looking for a more independent and flexible form of accommodation. For budget and large families, we would recommend self-catering for a more personalised experience.
