Hayward, named after its founder, William Hayward, is situated 25 miles southeast of San Francisco, in Alameda County, and is known as the “Heart of the Bay”, as the community is located central and convenient to cities and towns in the area.
Although Hayward has a mixture of many races and cultures, the people live and work harmoniously together to develop, improve, and maintain the community. The community boasts a City Hall, two universities, library, hospital, schools, and many small businesses, as well as art museums and galleries. The community has a large shopping center, Southland Mall, which houses well known department stores such as Macy’s, and other retailers. An underground food court located at the mall offers visitors a huge variety of restaurants and food outlets.
