Tired of all the usual holiday spots and want to experience a new scene? Then Hogsback is the location for you. Hogsback is one of the Eastern Cape’s most riveting locales and finds itself just an hour and a half out of Grahamstown. Hogsback is named after three mountain peaks which peculiarly resemble the wild hogs that can be seen around this area.

It also has some of the most dramatic scenery to be found anywhere in South Africa as it lies in close proximity to the foreboding Amatola Mountain ranges and is itself ensconced in a lush forested terrain. It is said to have been the inspiration behind JRR Tolkien’s legendary Lord of the Rings trilogy and it isn’t hard to see why.
