The Majestic Inhaca Island is a breathtaking tropical paradise enclosed within seashore forests and lined all round with beautiful, pristine beaches. The attraction of Inhaca Island is not only its proximity to Maputo, being 37 kilometres from the capital city, but also its breathtaking reefs with moray eels, potato bass, whirling clouds of barracuda and kingfish. Dolphins slither past while whale sharks amble through the deep. Majestic Manta rays also glide by in summer months. At ebb tide, when the waters are high, divers catch the tide and float along the reef for more than a kilometer. Spear fishing is allowed on the offshore reefs. Snorkeling in the warm waters of the lagoon at adjoining Portuguese Island might be the ideal way for beginners to get into the rhythm before diving the spectacular reefs of Inhaca.
Large tracts of the beautiful Inhaca island are covered in sub-tropical forest that have been demarcated as reserve areas since the 1970s. Two- and three-day walks through the sub-tropical vegetation place you in the midst of an African island paradise. Fisherman are particularly well accommodated at Inhaca Island: well-equipped boats on hire with experienced crew members and the thrill of catching marlin, sailfish, tuna, dorado, kingfish and barracuda all add to the experience.
For those in search of adrenaline, Inhaca Island also offers water sports such as water-skiing, para-sailing, wind surfing and kayaking. At sunset, boat cruises out at sea find guests sipping on sundowner cocktails and drinking in the ambience of the end of another gorgeous Mozambican day.
