Stretching from Sodwana Bay in the north to Mapelane in the south, iSimangaliso Wetland Park in the KwaZulu-Natal Province is a wildlife area consisting of 5 independent ecosystems. This UNESCO World Heritage Site covers an area of 260000ha in a subtropical region where diverse animal life exists in places that extend from the spawning and nursery grounds of the St Lucia estuary, through thick dune forests and onward to the pristine beaches and untouched coral reefs further north.
The picturesque village of St Lucia is central to the park and a recommended stop for provisions and to obtain information regarding accommodation, hiking routes, dive sites and fishing licences. North of the village is the Crocodile Centre where visitors can learn more about the crocodile’s life cycle and its importance to the park. Feeding times take place on Saturday afternoons.

About Backpacker
For those who are a little adventurous and enjoy the company of other travellers, you can decide to stay at a Backpackers. Often having to share a room with others as well as costs, it is incredibly inexpensive. Often the best choice for those who may be just passing through or will be occupied for the majority of their day. It comes with the most basic amenities and is often formed as part of a bar or similar establishment. Not recommended for those who want privacy, this is best suited for those who wouldn’t mind meeting various other interesting travellers.
