The scintillating Cape West Coast of South Africa is home to a number of marvellous seaside hamlets and Lamberts Bay is as down-to-earth as they come. Known for its unpretentious atmosphere, Lamberts Bay is not far from the popular enclave of Clanwilliam and is just a 2.5 hours drive outside of the fabulous city of Cape Town giving it a very convenient geographical location.
While Lamberts Bay is known for its sleepy and laidback nature, there is more than enough for visitors to enjoy during their stay. Firstly, Lamberts Bay has been blessed with magnificent natural beauty; like many of the locales found along the West Coast, Lamberts Bay features lovely blue beaches with white sands, and the scenery in these parts is nothing short of picturesque. The bird watching opportunities here are excellent; home to the popular and well-known Bird Island, travellers from all over South Africa flock to this charming coastal village for a personal encounter with the likes of the African penguin, the cormorant, and the Cape Gannet. Furthermore, Lamberts Bay is a terrific whale and dolphin watching spot where a school of up to 20 dolphins can be seen from as close as 150m away.
As Lamberts Bay finds itself in the heart of crayfish country, the outstanding array of seafood on offer here is another reason for a visit; in fact, its open-air seaside restaurants prepare some of the most delicious dishes found anywhere in the Cape. With all this and more, it is no wonder Lamberts Bay is an increasingly enticing prospect for a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.
