The village of Livingstone is named after the famous explorer, Dr. David Livingstone, it was established in 1905 as a major European settlement and made the capital of Rhodesia. In 1935 the capital was moved to Lusaka and the bustling town became a quiet village. Livingstone has become the leading base for adventure travelers wishing to explore the Seventh wonder of the World. Livingstone offers a wide range of adventure activities, from bungee jumping, jet boats, riverboarding, canoeing, horse riding trails, abseiling, white water river rafting; you get to ride an extra two rapids if you start on the Zambian side. During peak flow from January to June the Zambian side of the Falls is the most spectacular and there are walkways leading out to look out points and Knife Edge bridge. For those who are a little adventurous and enjoy the company of other travellers, you can decide to stay at a Backpackers. Often having to share a room with others as well as costs, it is incredibly inexpensive. Often the best choice for those who may be just passing through or will be occupied for the majority of their day. It comes with the most basic amenities and is often formed as part of a bar or similar establishment. Not recommended for those who want privacy, this is best suited for those who wouldn’t mind meeting various other interesting travellers.
