More info about Nigel

Gauteng is one of South Africa’ premier destinations and boasts easy access to most of the major ports in the country and the rest of Africa thanks to its efficient and world-class OR Tambo International Airport situated in the city of Johannesburg. Johannesburg is a distinct African city as it is blessed with numerous and diverse influences making it vibrant and passionate.

Further north of Johannesburg, is the country’s capital of Pretoria; laidback and conservative, Pretoria often provides a nice refuge away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Jozi lifestyle. Both cities along with the rest of the province have many attractions and activities to enjoy including Constitution Hill, the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, Nelson Mandela Square, Caesar’s Palace and Soccer City at Nasrec. Gauteng has easy access to many of South Africa’s most famous destinations including Sun City and the Pilanesberg in North West, the iconic Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga, and the city of Durban in the KZN province. Situated on the East Rand of Johannesburg is the suburb of Nigel, which along with fellow areas such as Benoni, Alberton, Boksburg, Brakpan, Springs, Germiston, and Edenvale, make up the collective now known as the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan.

While the likes of Nigel and the East Rand are not the most well-known regions of Johannesburg, it has in recent years developed a reputation as a tourist-friendly destination and features the likes of the Thokoza Memorial Wall, which honours thousands who lost their lives in the struggle against Apartheid, and the Meyersdal Koppies Nature Reserve near Alberton, which features late Iron Age stone wall settlements. Furthermore, Nigel is in close proximity to the popular Bruma Lake Flea Market and historically stimulating Apartheid Museum.
