Pescadero is in San Mateo County California, in the San Francisco Bay Area, and 45 minutes north of San Francisco.
An unincorporated community, Pescadero is located in a quiet and historic agricultural valley near the San Francisco shores. The small town surrounded by rolling hills, historically fishing and farming community, has become a popular retreat for tourists visiting its beautiful beaches and splendid parks. Naturalists can explore the wonderful sanctuary of Pescadero Marsh, a feeding and nesting habitat of over 150 species of birds, and is also a refuge for raccoons, deer, foxes, and skunks. Pescadero State Beach, a stunning mile long shoreline, has rocky cliffs, tide pools, sheltered coves, and offer picnic and fishing facilities. A popular attraction to visit is the Pigeon Point Lighthouse, perched on a cliff, where gray whales frequent the area during the migration seasons of January and April.
