Soweto Reviews
Was great to be able to explore a place with such historic relevance for South Africa. The Mandela house, the Hector Pieterson museum, etc were all fascinating and the variety of crafts and restaurants were great. Particularly enjoyed the bike tour done on the first day which gave us both a visual and historic background to the area.
More info about Soweto
South Western Township, or Soweto as it’s fondly known, is regarded as the most metropolitan township in the whole of South Africa. There is something inherent about Soweto which exudes culture, heritage, history, adventure and spirit. When one thinks of Soweto, one immediately thinks of South African political heroes such as Nelson Mandela and Hector Pieterson. But Soweto is so much more than just a piece of history. It’s an experience which words can’t do justice to.
Soweto is also renowned for its inception of the genre of kwaito music, a combination of house music, American hip-hop, and traditional African music extremely popular with black South African youth. In addition, Soweto also boasts thought-provoking art-work and exhibitions which illustrate its diverse and unique culture and history.
If you as a tourist ever take a trip down to Johannesburg, it is practically implied that you will make a tour of Soweto during your stay... Show more
About Cottages
Guests escape the noise and bustle of lodges by opting to stay in either fully self-catering or bed and breakfast cottages. Self-catering cottages are a home away from home and come fully equipped with everything guests need. Most self catering cottages also come with a cleaning service, Dstv, and a private patio/entertainment area. Guests who opt for bed and breakfast cottages enjoy their own private patio/entertainment area, luxury amenities, Dstv, and cleaning service. There is often a small kitchenette, if guests wish to do a little cooking, and a relaxing lounge area. Cottages are ideal for families, small groups of friends and couples wishing for a more private retreat.
