Stinson Beach is situated in Marin County California, 20 miles north of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge on Highway 101.
This small coastal community is tucked away at the foot of Mount Tamalpais with the Pacific shoreline as its backdrop. Stinson Beach is surrounded by natural beauty, and the town’s close proximity to San Francisco and neighboring areas make it an exclusive but high-priced community. The charming little beach community has over 3 miles of stunning white sand and surf. Stinson’s beach is definitely the main lure to the area, but visitors will be astounded by its hills and valleys that are home to coastal bird’s breeding grounds, and beautiful wild flowers. Visitors can participate in hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, surfing, kite flying, or just sunbathe on the beach. Adjacent to the beach is a splendid 51 acre park which offer picnic and barbecue facilities. Point Reyes National Seashore is a great spot for whale watching, and has miles of hiking and biking trails through open meadows and rocky edges.
Stinson Beach hosts an annual Shakespeare Festival, in summer, on the beach, and it is a popular event. The Claudia Chapline Gallery, located in a gorgeous sculptured garden with stunning views of the mountains, features contemporary art in three open air galleries.
