Making up part of a national park, Table Mountain is a flat-topped 1086m-high massif overlooking the coastal city of Cape Town in South Africa. So prominent is this mountain that in 2011 it was recognised as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, receiving over 800000 visitors annually.
Table Mountain dominates the skyline, seen from ships over 100km away. In the windy season, the mountain is regularly covered with a tablecloth, a strip of white cloud where legend speaks of it being formed by an eternal smoking duel between the devil and a local pirate.
