Our stay was outstanding - accommodation, facilities, game view, river view - amazing! Special mention for Jaques the game driver host - we learnt so much about nature and animals, birds etc from him!
This is actually a review of both Leolapa and its sister property next door, Buffalo Brooke. We had the privilege in the past year of staying at both properties on two separate trips, and both times we felt more spoiled and blessed than on any other holiday or trip we have ever been on. Both properties overlook a huge stretch of the Crocodile River, and from the sprawling entertainment areas - or from the infinity pools - you can watch game come down to the river to drink, day and night. If you still need to tick off one or two sightings on your list, you can always schedule a private game drive with the knowledgeable (and funny!) game driver, Muntu. As you the reader can tell by now, I can't recommend either of these two wonderful lodges highly enough!

Leolapa was a great start to a month in Kruger. We all gasped as the spaciousness of the house, the garden and pool, and the proximity of the Crocodile River sank in. It didn't take much to suffer four days here! We had zero problems with the running of the house, and I imagine that anything wrong would have been dealt with by the daily staff. The kitchen was well thought out and well equipped. The deck/terrace/patio - call it what you will - was perfect and we had little trouble filling a day there, binos in hand, looking for birds and animals. Who is to say what you see, but our highlight was to have a herd of elephants cross right in front and to graze alongside the fence. We just had to get into the pool and watch from there, ticking a cliche photo opportunity.
We had two game drives into the Mjejane reserve which were perfect for our first-timer. Again, who is to say what you'll see. We were a bit light on the variety, but that didn't matter with four weeks ahead of us.
We did pop up to the Mjejane Lodge a couple of times to eat, and it did us well. It's worth going just to see how much more perfect the setting of Leolapa is!
Wonderful
Seen Leopard kill and Lions hunting buffalo opposite the house on the other side of the river. Seen Cheetah and fantastic bird sightings. Watched lion hunting buffalo earlier this year and now understand how they go about it. We had Elephant eating 3 meters from the fence Fantastic place to really relax and Leo Lapa is fantastic accommodation in the Kruger Park. 6 stars.
Fab House! Everything you need and much more. Leolapa is a beautiful place. We got married this time last year and Sascha was ever so helpful. The staff was on to clean and in general do whatever extra things we needed. It was so peaceful there and we loved being so close to the river. On our wedding day we had a heard of elephants dropping by which was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. One day we hope to go back!
We will be back! Unbeatable location and superbly equipped and set up. Worked fabulously well for our multi-generational group. Fantastic array of animals viewed from the deck every day.

The staff are so kind and respectful. We stayed at the bush camp and it was splendid, perfect place for kids.
Mjejane is a great nature reserve, we were blessed to see many animals there, including elephants, Lions, Rhinos and Buffalos, plenty of other animals to see and you can enjoy your drives there without having to go into the Kruger.
