Winterton is a picturesque farming village nestled in the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg. Both tourists and holiday makers can enjoy the splendours and activities of the Drakensberg as well as the cultural and historical sites in this interesting district of uThukela, named after the dramatic river that runs through it. The month of July sees the annual Winterton Street Carnival taking place in Winterton. The main street is closed for the day, to play host to a vibrant mix of musicians, local artists, food stalls and craft manufacturers. The Winterton area is also home to a number of historical sites of interest which include the Marianne Church Ruins, which has been declared a national monument. The Winterton Museum on Church Street displays the progress of farming in the area throughout the years, and a unique gallery of San paintings.

The little town was awesome and plenty to do just outside of town.
We found different excursions every day.

Fabulous. 4 out of 5
