Beaumont is a charming family-run farm and winery situated in the quaint Overberg village of Bot River. The farm is home to the region's oldest wine cellar-is steeped in history. A visit to Beaumont is a romantic escape into a timeless world where tradition is a way of life. Taste and buy our hand-crafted, classically-styled wines at the cellar, along with delicious home-made produce. Visit and stay over in our authentic farm accommodation or celebrate any occasion with Beaumont's variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for private functions. Experience one of the oldest working water-mills in the Overberg, meander through the vineyards on foot or horseback, enjoy the abundant bird life, or take a hike on the fynbos-rich hiking trails of the Green Mountain Eco Route. There's truly something for everyone!
Chase away the winter blues or soak up the balmy summer days with books, music, good food and wine in the Mill House or Pepper Tree Cottage. Both have open fireplaces in the kitchen, lovely wood-burning stoves in the living room, electric heaters and hot water bottles for the winter months. We supply all your bedding, bath towels and plenty of fire wood. Enjoy invigorating walks through the vineyards, wine tasting, hiking the mountain trails, horse-riding or just lazing in the hot waters of the Caledon Spa. Or perhaps a swim in the fresh mountain water lake on a hot summer's day where the jetty offers one of the prettiest settings for sun-downers.
Beaumont is home to one of the Overberg's most historic watermills, and over the last years it has been restored into working order through the incredible enthusiasm and dedication of Andy Selfe. It houses three different mill machines, one of which is the Vitruvian. One of the best kept secrets at the gateway to the Overberg and considered by locals to be the "centre of the universe" is a magical landscape of rolling wheat lands, vineyards, magnificent mountains and a glimpse of the sea, this is the village of Bot River, sitting at the foothills of the Houw Hoek Pass and at entrance to the winding Van der Stel Pass in the Bot River Valley. Being off the beaten track still gives Bot River an authentic feel, with the railway line and trains running through the old station, now home to the Shuntin' Shed pub and restaurant. The people of Bot River reflect the diversity of its surroundings, a multicultural working community, a place of real people.
