Being inches away from a Zebra and glaring into its eyes as we arrived into our lodge being secluded and sucked in by surrounding trees, wildlife and nature in general.
Location: Located within Marloth Park, just outside of Kruger National Park. The park is an Eco friendly environment, preserving the natural growth around them and allowing animals to free roam. We opted for a shuttle to drop us off but it's recommended to drive as you can access any other facilities within the vicinity such as bars, entertainment and other restaurants. The area is secluded and the atmosphere is very quiet, which is a positive as it really takes you away from society.
Lodge/Room: How lucky must people be to be able to get a whole lodge to themselves ....... well we did! For the 2 nights spent at the lodge we had the entire residence to ourselves. The lodge itself had 4 rooms with an open outdoor living/dining room with places to relax, very simplistic yet effective with all the necessary tools needed. The rooms itself was all made from natural resources which was nice as it really was eco friendly and cosy. Despite the room being relatively nice this was probably the only negative of the stay due to three reasons. Firstly the bathroom is open within the room so you either have to be comfortable with the person you’re staying with or wait outside. Secondly flooring is perfectly fine par the shower which is grounded with pebbles so can be hard on your feet. Finally the door does not lock from the inside so if you’re a safe freak this is not the place for you, yes you can lock it from the outside when you leave your room but unfortunately not from the inside.
Host/Staff: This deserves a mention in itself. Magnus was there from the start to greet us and to see us off as well. He co-ordinated our activities and our pick up/drop off with a local company which was very helpful as we did not have access to a car. Not only that but he created the best 3 course meal we have had in a very long time at a reasonable cost. Magnus lives with his wife and son on the grounds as well but in a secluded part of the lodge. Every day he made sure we where well prepared by supplying us fresh water bottles and snacks we may need for the day as well as engaging conversation; the service provided for this section deserves an honorable 5 Star mention.
Overall: A very nice birthday surprise and one that I will never forgot. Being a city boy I really enjoyed the tranquil peace and the customer service provided by Magnus and family. Would defiantly stay here again if we where to come back towards Kruger or Marloth Park.
Do you want to have your coffee and meals enjoyed literally outside of 4 baring kitchen walls? Enjoying a visitation of Mr Giraffe while sipping your lovely juice or wine? Then come to this place! Its earthly ! room walls have a touch of African taste, i really enjoyed staring at them while relaxed on my bed. The design of this thatched-roof is purely a joy to trained-eye architecture or engineer. I enjoyed a warm spirit of the owner who also looked after my needs , made fire for me, arranged that I delight myself over a sumptuous braai vors.
I would personally recommend Green Kruger Lodge to anyone looking to enjoy an intimate and top quality stay in the Kruger area. Magnus and Yendra are thee most amazing, accommodating and pleasant hosts I have come across - really humble and genuine people!
Highlights of the stay:
- Really good quality rooms and amenities. Very clean and well decorated.
- Awesome and beautiful communal area to relax and chill
- Excellent service from Magnus and Thabsile. Extremely helpful.
- Short drive 20km to Crocodile River Kruger gate
- Game interactions (kudu, Wildebees, impala etc.) right outside your door!
- Excellent breakfast incl. Magnus' Kruger Famous Flap Jacks :-)
Thanks Magnus and Co. for making our long weekend a memorable one!!!

The tranquil, roaming animals.
The piece and quiet with animals roaming around the houses.
Seeing animals right in front of your door, the big pool made it easy for kids to entertained along with the slides.
Very close to Kruger National Park.
The fact that it is so close to the Kruger National Park and even full of wild life itself. If you do not feel like going into the Kruger you can still experience quite a number of wild life. The shops, petrol station and restaurants provide ample opportunity to do the necessary purchases.
Being out in the bush you get the opportunity to relax after a day of doing some traveling.
Street names clearly marked.
Apart from nature, the little shopping centre had everything we needed for our stay.
Beautiful surrounding and a lovely weather.
The bush babies at night.
