A comfortable sojourn is guaranteed by 65 en suite rooms with air conditioning. Our accommodation is air-conditioned, mostly twin bedded rooms, with some family rooms. The rooms overlook either vast desert landscapes or the fossilised dunes. Shaded camping sites under acacia trees at the bank of a dry riverbed are available for campers.
Property Facilities:
Namib Desert Lodge has two swimming pools, a salt and a fresh water pool. The restaurant and bar have an inviting terrace with magnificent views. Oryx antelope and springbok make frequent appearances at our illuminated watering place.

Area Information:
The Namib Desert - pale green shrubs and trees on the banks of dry rivers against the backdrop of reddish mountains of sand. In Gondwana Namib Park (100 square km) the fossilised dunes of the ancient Namib meet the active ones of the young Namib. A sea of dunes surges in the West, while in the East vast plains reach out to distant mountains.

Enclosed by the waves of a sea of red sand a lake glistens deep down in the valley of dunes - this is where the seasonal Tsauchab River ends; lined by trees it meanders through the dunes from the east. At Sossusvlei the river's course to the sea is blocked by the highest dunes on earth. It rarely happens - only after abundant rainfalls - that the clay pan of Sossusvlei fills with water. In neighbouring Dead Vlei, however, the dry branches of dead camel thorn trees rise towards the sky.

In Room Facilities:
All the rooms have air-conditioners, en-suite bathrooms (showers) and a veranda. The rooms have twin beds. The lodge has one wheel chair friendly room.

Attractions:
Dune Drive: Discover the fossilised dunes, the red dunes above the plateau and the many other wonders of the Namib Desert on this drive around Gondwana Namib Park.

We, family with 10 year old child had an excellent time here. Although we stayed just 3 nights, we would have liked to stay longer and this place. Service and food was great, room very nicely decorated, two swimming pools which we hardly used and a very relaxing atmosphere in the hotel. The drive to Sossusvlei is about 45 Minutes, so be prepared to leave early. Definitely recommend the sun downer, very relaxing and amazing seeing the sun come down and the moon in it´s full pride! We will come back to this place. Thank you Namib Dessert Lodge staff to make our stay unforgettable.

The Desert Lodge had comfortable rooms at the base of a lovely cliff type setting in the Namib. It was convenient to explore by jeep and up great rises for sun downers and nice sunset views. The guides are experts on the oryx, but also on the geology of the area, which is fantastic!

The lodge is about 60km from the dunes so it is a bit of a drive, but it is in a beautiful setting and offers very comfortable accommodation and walks of different lengths which are very nice. There is plenty of bird life around and we enjoyed seeing how many we could recognize. The food was good, the staff friendly and there is a very nice entertainment area where we played games and watched the soccer.

The staff at Namib Desert Lodge are fantastic, they are super friendly and the food and the rooms were amazing. The curios shop is very well stocked and was like shopping in a store in town. We were helped with so much care as one of our friends cut open his toe, they helped us with plasters and their first aid kit was well stocked. Nothing that we requested was too much trouble for them. This was our second visit to the lodge and it it's even better now.

From arrival right through our stay the service was excellent with very friendly staff. The lovely green garden with abundant bird life was wonderful. The game drive with Riaan as our guide was a memorable experience. We even had rain in the desert. The buffet dinner had a lot to choose from and the breakfast, also buffet with a huge variety, was excellent.

We stayed two nights at this lodge and enjoyed our stay very much. Everywhere including our rooms was very clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The setting is awesome and we highly recommend the sun downer trip which was a wonderful experience. Nobody else had booked so we we had a guide and transport all to ourselves. Excellent!
