Comfortable rooms, friendly staff and excellent food combine to make Hamilton Parks the perfect stopover.

The gracious thatched homestead is set in magnificent gardens and offers outstanding bird watching and sightings of various animal species such as monkeys, bushpig, porcupine, bushbuck, grey duiker and the very rare red duiker.

The lodge compromises of 14 individually decorated bedrooms, each en-suite with a choice of double, twin and king size beds and 2 rooms are able to accommodate a family of four.

From the dining room one has a view of the extensive gardens with an enormous rubber tree providing adequate shade during the hot summer days. Close to the dining room and main hotel you will also find the swimming pool and cosy bar area. This area is ideal for informal gatherings and a true South African 'braai' (barbecue) during the evening - please remember to book in advance.

In Room Facilities:

All 14 rooms are en-suite with shower and a choice of double or twin beds - two rooms can accommodate a family of up to four. The rooms are all individually decorated and are situated away from the main building providing different levels of privacy. All rooms have airconditioner and or fireplaces, tea and coffee facilities, a mini-bar, emergency lights, and plug points. Each room also has an outside veranda with table and chairs.

Area Information:

Hamilton Parks Country Lodge is set in a magnificent 250 hectare estate, consisting of pristine indigenous bush near Hazyview in the Mpumalanga Lowveld. Hamilton Parks is situated a mere 25 minute drive from Kruger Park entrance, Phabeni Gate. The lodge offers easy access to game reserves and the scenic wonders of the Blyde River Canyon and the Great Escarpment. This beautiful Cape Dutch style building has long been a renowned hostelry in the Lowveld. Previously a dairy and banana farm, the non-indigenous species have now been removed and the farm has been returned to natural bush. There is already an abundance of game and you are likely to see blue vervet monkeys, grey duiker, red duiker (a very rare species), bush pig, porcupines and bushbuck. There is a leopard on the farm but they remain shy and you are unlikely to see them, although you may well see the spoor. A croc enclosure a great walk but ni interaction

Property Facilities:

Extensive gardens with swimming pool, cosy bar area (fully licensed), barbecue facilities, guest lounge with communal television and a selection of books for the avid reader, laundry and car wash services. The lodge also offers a bush walks on the property at no charge for guests

Attractions:

Enjoy an open vehicle tour in the Kruger National Park - your field guide will show you an abundance of wildlife, big and small. He will give you the interesting facts of the bush.

The Lowveld is also home to the third largest canyon in the world, the Blyde River Canyon. It is also the largest green canyon in the world. At the confluence of the Blyde and Treur Rivers huge potholes have eroded in the riverbed known today as Bourke's Luck potholes. There is a paved walkway from where you may view these fascinating rock formations. A little further down the road at the viewpoint, known as the Three Rondawals one has spectacular views down into the canyon and of the three round hills on the opposite side known as "Three Rondawals". En route to the Blyde River Canyon there are plenty of waterfalls with magnificent scenery, as well as God's Window that offers a spectacular view of the Lowveld some 1000m below. The Panorama and Waterfall routes are only 30km away. Activities include quad biking, golfing, tennis, bowls, fishing, river-rafting, ballooning, hiking, mountain-biking, paintball, tubing, horse riding, archery, elephant back safaris, zip line tours, Skyway Trail.
