Somersby Guest House was a dream born of many a wonderful holiday in Hout Bay. The name Somersby means 'Summer Village' which we feel is a place you would head to for a long relaxing holiday. Keeping in this spirit we have named our rooms to reflect the holiday feeling.
Peaceful Retreat is a spacious and very relaxing room decorated with a kaleidoscope of teals, gold and a hint of pink.
Journeys End is a spacious room decorated with geometric shapes and a splash of purple and magenta.
Permanent Vacation is a spacious room decorated in an array of bold reds, greens and browns.
We have kept the guest house simple but tried to incorporate all the essential things to make your stay comfortable and hassle free.
Your hostess, Sandra, is qualified in Massage, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and EFT and has run her own practice successfully in the UK for 13 years.
Somersby is a child-free guest house. We also operate a non-smoking policy in the house but a smoking area is available.
Relax on a sun lounger around the solar heated pool. Need to chill out even more? Then book a Massage or Reflexology Treatment, both are available on request. For those feeling more energetic there is a gym available. We have 3 parking bays which are all secure and inside the property. There is a list of restaurants and menus in the rooms for your convenience and brochures of local attractions are available. If you need help with booking restaurants or tours we will endeavour to help you in any way we can. A smoking area is also available.
Hout Bay is surrounded by majestic mountains and has a long sandy beach starting at the Sentinel and ending at Chapmans Peak. The town has a variety of restaurants, bars, markets, coffee shops, craft shops, art galleries and local supermarkets on offer. Only 25 minutes from the centre of Cape Town, Hout Bay is also in an ideal location as a central base to explore further afield.

All 3 rooms are decorated with a contemporary feel, all have original artwork and the colours give each room its unique appeal. We have endeavoured to make the rooms comfortable and well-equipped for your convenience. All our rooms are non-smoking but there is a smoking area available. Each room has a private verandah with table and chairs to relax and enjoy the lovely views we are blessed with.
The Queen beds have 100% cotton bed linen. Other local attractions include the World of Birds, boat trips, hiking, weekly markets - the popular Bay Harbour Market being a must to experience, the working fishing harbour, a great tourist attraction with pubs, restaurants and boat trips to Seal Island, the famous Chapmans Peak drive, a truly jaw-dropping drive along the coast that rivals the best coastal drives in the world. If you are lucky you may even see the whales.
Take a drive along the scenic Atlantic Seaboard with the sea on one side and the magnificent 12 Apostles mountain on the other. Sit on the beach at Llandudno or stop off in trendy Camps Bay at one of the many restaurants or bars. This coastline boasts many beaches along the way.
Explore Cape Town and the famous V & A Waterfront, both of which are a mere 25 minutes away. A trip up Table Mountain in the cable car is a must for all visitors.
There is a short drive over the Constantia Nek which allows you access to the start of the Constantia wine route for wine tasting and dinner at one of the many award-winning restaurants.
Visit the world-famous Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, Rhodes Memorial or the museum at Groote Schuur Hospital, famous for the world's first heart transplant. Take a drive over Chapmans Peak Drive into Noordhoek and go horse riding on the beach. Take a walk around the interesting shops and bars in Kalk Bay. Carry on to Simon's Town and visit the Penguins at The Boulders, then continue on to the breathtaking scenery of Cape Point.
Stellenbosch wine route with all its magnificent scenery, famous wine farms and restaurants, is also easily explored in day trips. There is so much to see and do in and around Cape Town, you will never be bored!
