Barberton Mountain Lodge is secluded and is surrounded by the ancient mountains with an abundance of nature and natural beauty, amazing birdlife and spectacular views over the Barberton Valley. Come and explore the unique fauna, flora and history that can be found in Barberton and the Makhonjwa Mountains, with a variety of outdoor thrills to experience, such as mountain biking, paragliding and hiking on offer in the area.
Barberton Mountain Lodge is a self-catering Lodge situated in the picturesque mountains of Barberton in Mpumalanga. Perfect for romantic couple getaways, or a tranquil breakaway for a small family close to a variety of outdoor action.
Accommodation comprises 2 units and can accommodate 8 guests.
Die Berghuisie sleeps a maximum of 4 people and comprises 2 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 features a double bed and Bedroom 2 features 2 single beds. The unit features a kitchen, fireplace in the lounge and a shared bathroom with bath. The cottage also has a wooden deck overlooking the mountains, a braai area with wood supplied, and a spring water rock pool, with spectacular views of the African Lowveld sunsets.
Die Houthuisie is built on stilts and comprises 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with the main bedroom furnished with a double bed, while the second room has 2 single beds. The bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet, with an open-plan kitchen and lounge. Facilities included in the kitchen area fridge-freezer and microwave, an oven with a stove as well as other appliances. The lounge has comfortable and neat seating arrangements, with an electric heater to stay warm and snug on winter days. A wooden dining table has seating for 4, and Houthuisie also has braai amenities and a rock pool to make use of with a covered stoep seating four for your sunset memories. The unit is tucked away amongst the trees with beautiful surrounding gardens, offering complete privacy with secure parking.

Wonderful place, beautiful view very friendly and welcoming and helpful hosts. Very reasonable price for the accommodation and amenities. The only reason why I'm going with 4 stars is the outside of the cabin had a strong creosote smell, but this will only be temporary.
We had 4 nights & 4 days at BML - and it rained or was deep in the mist nearly the whole time - weather on the escarpment is very changeable. Luckily our hosts were more than generous with firewood so we kept cosy. There is the potential for lots of walks but due to weather we only managed one - accompanied by Wayne & Sundra's friendly, energetic and brave little dog! It's very peaceful and great views. Comfy bed. The shower (Berghuisie) is outside - with plentiful hot water. And Barberton has an interesting history so worth exploring - don't miss Belhaven House and it's wonderful and knowledgeable young curator Henry.
Spectacular views and amazing hospitality from the hosts. They are warm and authentic people and we had enjoyable chats. Lots of paths to hike.
I was welcomed by the host Wayne. He made me feel at home. The berghuise is very cozy and it has everything that I needed including daily firewood supply.
This is one of the nicest part of S.A. It's so peaceful here, that I didn't wanted to leave. I'll definitely come back
Wayne and Sandra are the most welcoming people I have ever come across. My partner and I arrived in the early hours of the morning and they were so pleased to help us check in for our stay. The lodge is very ideal for family, friends or couples. It is extremely private and breathtaking with the regards to the view. The house is clean and very warm. Barbeton Mountain Lodge is highly recommended and I would go again and again. Thank You Sandra and Wayne.
