Area Information:Bloemfontein, the City of Roses, serves as something of an oasis, lying as it does plum in the middle of the Free State and indeed the country. The only major city for miles around, it is also the sixth largest city in the country, the Judicial Capital of South Africa, and it lies on the N1 between Johannesburg and Cape Town, often functioning as a stop off to break the major journey between the two cities.
Despite being situated in an area of dry grassland, Bloemfontein more than lives up to its name - spring of flowers. Thousands of rose bushes line the city; more than 4000 rose trees have been planted in the rose gardens in Kings Park, and many homes, still minus the ubiquitous six metre wall of other major cities in South Africa, boast colourful gardens littered with flowering plants and trees. Bloemies, as the locals fondly call her it, is a city of little stress and very few residents buy into the rush, rush syndrome typical of a major city. The city centre is lined with historical buildings, including the beautiful tree-lined President Brand Street - a national monument - its pavements home to several graceful museum buildings, right in the centre of the CBD.
Naval Hill, a little nature reserve of 192 odd hectares, set right in the city, is worth a drive through. Set on a hill as it is, it not only provides a welcome respite from all things city, but also gives a bird’s eye view over the city. And the extremely modern Orchid House, which lies at the western foot of Naval Hill in Hamilton Park, lays claim to the world’s largest collection of orchids. There is also a fragrance garden for the blind close to Orchid House.
Property Facilities:Breakfast
Jedidja offer three breakfasts designed to suit our guest’s requirements. Our English breakfast buffet includes all the ‘bells and whistles’ and rings true to the saying “Eat breakfast like a King…”! Our Banting Breakfast is available on special request. The Continental breakfast buffet is designed for business guests that are ‘on the run’ and do not have time for a luxurious breakfast, available on request.
Jedidja’s staff and hosts rise at dawn to prepare each breakfast, as we believe that Breakfast is an important meal because it breaks the overnight fasting period, replenishes your supply of glucose and provides other essential nutrients to keep your energy levels up throughout the day.
Boma or Lapa (an African Barbecue area)
At the bottom of the garden a Boma or Lapa area has been cordoned off with wooden fencing to create the perfect, private outside area for various occasions and functions.
Experience the real feel of Africa with a pooitjie or braai which we would gladly cater for on request.
Or simply use our facilities to create your own braai or barbecue. We will provide the table setting and braai equipment needed.
Enjoy the garden atmosphere while you wait for the braai or pooitjie and breathe in the sweet African smell of burning wood and the various night noises that fill the air.
Enchanting Garden
Jedidja’s garden is a delight for those who are nature lovers and dreamers. A tranquil Eden surrounded by decking and several water features which not only create an ambient mood to unwind and relax but also attract a variety of bird species which fill the air with peaceful song.
Everywhere you turn there are little nooks to explore. Sit quietly with a book and be transported into another world or simply unwind and enjoy the many different picturesque views and sounds in the garden.
On closer inspection you will find that the garden is filled with various art works and like the house clearly displays the owners love and passion for the arts.
When the weather is suitable, breakfast can be served on the various decks that surround the garden and lead to each room.

Reviews
Beautiful garden setting..we had a braai and had breakfast served in the garden. Staff very friendly and competent and Sanei and her husband were excellent hosts.
We were on the road from Johannesburg to Knysna following a long relocation with our two dogs from Switzerland. This was a great stop on the route to put our heads down and try settle the dogs. We arrived quite late and a bit unprepared for food for the dogs. The owner was extremely accommodating and even cooked for our four legged friends. The room was comfortable, well decorated and clean. Thanks for your kind and helpful hospitality allowing us to set off early for the rest of our lives Ng journey to Knysna.
