Area Information:

*Knysna is a natural paradise of lush, indigenous forests, tranquil lakes, and golden beaches. She nestles on the banks of a breathtakingly pretty lagoon, now a protected marine reserve that is home to the extraordinary sea horse and over 200 species of fish.
*Beaches, lakes, mountains, and rivers provide endless opportunities for leisure and outdoor adventure
*Within the town, craft shops, flea markets, and cozy cafés beckon with small-town charm and hospitality
*The area around Knysna is a veritable Garden of Eden. This is home to the only forest elephant in South Africa, the rare Pansy Shell, the brilliantly colored, and elusive, Knysna Loerie, a plethora of waterfowl and forest birds, dolphins, and visiting whales.

The indigenous forests in Knysna constitute the largest complex of closed-canopy forest in southern Africa, whilst the remarkable richness of the Fynbos vegetation contributes over 8000 plant species to the Cape floral kingdom. Exploring the Knysna forests, along demarcated walks, with the occasional call of the Loerie, provides a complete escape into a former time when many elephants trod these paths, particularly if you’ve read Dalene Matthee’s ‘Circles in a forest’.

Today a mere three elephants are reputed to still roam the forest. The Knysna Elephant Park has brought the elephant back to Knysna and all the elephants are former orphans rescued from culling operations in the Kruger National Park, except for Thandi who was born in the park.

A visit to Knysna would be incomplete without a trip to the heads - a striking geological feature made up of a pair of huge, brightly coloured cliffs lying at the mouth of the lagoon, flanking a channel of potentially treacherous water that flows into Knysna’s lagoon. The eastern head houses a lookout with spectacular views of the lagoon, Leisure Isle and Knysna whilst the western head is a privately owned nature reserve called Featherbed Nature Reserve. Visitors can get to the reserve via ferry.

Modern self catering establishment. Restaurant on site which is great. Fridge microwave etc. Water from shower bit iffy but not a real issue. No aircon but has a fan and wall mounted heater. Security great and onsite off street parking. Good call all around.

We only stayed one night on our way through Knysna but what a lovely little place. The room was clean and spacious, there was secure parking and the staff/owners were very friendly. The location is wonderful, just a short walk to the waterfront and there is braai facilities on site for guests to use. We wished we could have stayed longer.

A very neat clean affordable inn with friendly service. Only downside is it is situated near restaurant and pubs so noise level at night esp. Saturday night is a problem. No fault of the inn. Everything else was great.

Affordable, beautiful, well-equipped and secure units in the centre of town with off-street parking and easy access to all the Garden Route has to offer. Friendly front-office staff are on hand to provide useful advice and information.

What a gem for us to find. Great location in Knysna. We booked for one night, but ended up staying for two. Great size room, with all that you need to be comfortable, but not if you are intending to cook for yourself. HOWEVER, the Mexican restaurant located on the property has excellent food, and is very affordable (it was part of the reason we stayed another night! You have to try the Fajitas). Staff are very friendly, rooms are nice and clean. The only downside is a little noise which can be heard from the street early evening and in the morning. Parking is very secure, and this is a huge bonus for Knysna.

A last minute stay over, but Lana was very accommodating and welcoming. The rooms were comfy and well equipped. The restaurant downstairs is a bonus as we didn't have to go far and a complementary drink was such a nice touch. Highly recommend a stay here!

Leisure Island, in Knysna ideal for strolling along the Island, jogging, walking, canoeing and just enjoying the beauty of nature.
The heads, beautiful scenery from the wooden paths/deck.
The restaurant at the Waterfront especially 34 South. Food was amazing!

Knysna is magnificent! We enjoyed the whole experience it has on offer (or as much as we could see and do... due to Covid.)
