Glen Avon Farm is a Bed and Breakfast and Self Catering Establishment. A visit to this unique historical farm near Somerset East is like taking a step into the past. Some of the buildings date back to 1817 and the guest cottages are furnished with restored furniture from days gone by.

The Glen Avon Farm was first owned by Robert Hart who is known as "The Father of the 1820 Settlers" and today's owners are his direct descendents. The original 1820 homesteads and the historic Glen Avon Water Mill are just a few of the attractions.

Enjoy the warmth and hospitality of your hosts, Alison and Bill Brown and you will want to return.

Guest accommodation, situated in lush surroundings, consists of two restored cottages with self catering, bed and breakfast or fully catered options.
The one cottage (Robert Hart Cottage) has three bedrooms (sleeps 5), one bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen.
The other one (Pecan Cottage) has three bedrooms (sleeps 6), 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen.
Two bedrooms sleeping 4 are also available in the main farmhouse.

Farming activities at Glen Avon Farm includes morning and evening hand milking, sheep and Angora goat shearing. There are beautiful walks catering for the casual walker to the energetic hiker. Explore the indigenous bush and forest where Wild Olives, White Stinkwoods, Outeniqua Yellowwoods and Cape Chestnuts are just a few of the species to be found.

Bird watchers will be able to identify more than 240 species including rarities such as the Narina Trogon, Bush Blackcap Buffstreaked Chat.

Fly fishing in the numerous dams and river is a speciality or simple relaxation in the form of swimming and canoeing.

An all weather tennis court and swimming pool are situated in beautiful surroundings.

4 x 4 Outings to the spectacular Glen Avon Falls or to the top of the Boschberg can be arranged and Glen Avon Farm offers wonderful mountain biking opportunities.

Situated at the foot of the Boschberg and only 15 minutes from Somerset East, Glen Avon Farm is an ideal stop-over and being only 2 hours from Port Elizabeth makes it a perfect venue for accommodation for a weekend visit.

Had a wonderful stay at Glen Avon - a step back in time and thought I was transported back to an English or Welsh farming valley.
Thanks to our hosts - it was all interesting, relaxing and very comfortable.

Worcester has less traffic, surrounded by beautiful mountains. Fields all around creates a very sight-seeing view.
