Yzerfontein is a small harbour town on the west coast of South Africa about 90km north of Cape Town.
Southern Wright, Humpback whales and dolphins are regularly seen from all parts of Yzerfontein.
They start arriving in September for the calving season.
Dassen Island is less than 10km offshore and is the preferred breeding ground to the majority of African Penguins in the world.
A drive through the West Coast National Park is not be missed, especially during Wild flower season from August to mid October.

Yzerfontein is known for its pristine Sixteen Mile Beach, the longest uninterrupted sandy beach on the South African coastline, stretching north from the main beach of the town to the West Coast National Park.
The Arts & Crafts shop at !Khwa ttu proudly displays only genuine arts and crafts produced by the San people. The shop is supplied with work created by the San people some of whom are living in villages based on original culture. A venue not to be missed is the West Coast Fossil Park 50 kilometers from Yzerfontein.
