The Lodge is set on the edge of a wooded island in the Kalahari savannah in Botswana. The lodge is a celebration of the serenity, space, and light which flows throughout this vast area.
Inspired by the simplicity of the landscape in which it rests, The Lodge is an inviting oasis where indulgently comfortable interiors integrate seamlessly with the raw African beauty outside.
An outside staircase leads to the upper deck, under thatch but open to nature. Here, private dinners can be arranged, or, while away the day curled up on the woven daybed with a good book.
For the adventurous, sleep out at night on the woven daybed, with only a mosquito net between you and nature.
Two special “Fat bikes” are parked at the front door of each suite. You can cycle to the main guest area during the day, or venture out accompanied by one of our guides to explore the vast wilderness around the lodge. The bikes have extra large tyres and suspension making them easy to ride even through the thick sand.
The Lodge allows access to the unique dry savannah habitats of Kalahari Desert region in the central part of Botswana, with the tremendous advantage of exclusivity and luxury.
On safari it is possible to see a tremendous diversity of species, from lion and elephant to packs of the very rare wild dog.
It is also home to the ungulates: from the majestic gemsbok and eland to the ubiquitous zebra.
In Room Facilities:
Decorated with custom-made furniture, sourced and sometimes re-purposed pieces populate the space to form a harmonious and comfortable whole. The raised decks, constructed of sustainably farmed hardwoods, form the structure’s foundations.
An extra King size bed draped in billowing mosquito nets forms the centre of each suite.
A beautiful fan on each ceiling, just above the bed keeps the air cool and, while there is always a refreshing breeze coming through the gaze windows at night, the temperature is always comfortable for sleeping even at the hottest time of the year.
Each suite has its own private 4x6m swimming pool surrounded by a teak deck complete with sun lounges.
The Lodge offers daily game drives in our vast Kalahari conservancy area.
Early morning and late afternoon is the optimal time for game drives as the temperatures are milder and the wildlife is more active.
It is important to us that you feel free and enjoy your stay at your own pace and preferences. If you would prefer to sleep in we will happily organise a later start to your game drive.
