Kabbelrus is a 116 year old beautifully restored Victorian establishment dating back two centuries. It is situated in the picturesque village of De Rust, at the foothills of the majestic Swartberg Mountain & at the entrance of Meiringspoort - the gateway to the Great Karoo.
There is a splash pool & green grass for relaxation. Restaurants & novelty shops are within walking distance & tourists have a choice of different walks in & around the village. One of the many attractions around De Rust is the world famous Cango Caves (35km) & the other the majestic Meiringspoort (2km). This quaint little town also forms part of the Route 62 that meanders from Cape Town through the wine valleys, Klein Karoo, Langkloof & beaches of Jeffreys Bay, Port Elizabeth & Addo National Park.

It was lovely but the house is right on R62 with trucks beetling down noisily all night.
Hard to open windows so it felt stuffy.
Lovely garden at back.
Staff were very friendly and amenable.
Lovely bedding and bed. Also it was really hot so it was good to have a teeny splash pool, and safe parking around the back.
Wonderful Accommodation in De Rust - close to all the shops and lovely 😊 room with very nice hostess welcoming us - would highly recommend Kabbelrus ❤️

This was such a quaint little guesthouse. Loved everything about it. The decor, tranquility, cleanliness. Host made us feel at home.
Upgraded our room as I requested one with a shower, with no price change.
Would have stayed longer if I could..but will definitely return if on that route.
The cutest little house! Everything that you could need, were there. I wish I stayed for longer. Will definitely tell friends about it!

Very enjoyable stay. Neil and partner were excellent hosts. They did everything possible to make our stay and experience memorable. Love the fact that they are all motorcycle enthusiasts as well.

Small town full of gems and beautiful places to visit
Pluim restaurant, wonderful food.
So peaceful, the house is very well equipped.
Loved the braai pit and lovely view from the patio
Definitely worth every cent
The Karoo is a beautiful place. We visited THE TRAVELING TORTOISE for a weekend. We were welcomed by the owner, Jeff, who took us to our chalet. The chalet is very neat. Jeff showed us around and light our wood-fired hot tub.
I will recommend this trip for young and old. Our kids enjoyed the freedom of roaming around and the 'older' enjoyed the nature and quite.
