Welcome to Struwig Eco-Reserve, a special place in the heart of the African bushveld. The Reserve is part of an area of more than 2.2 million hectares where Africa’s wild animals, including the Big 5, hippopotamus and crocodile, roam freely in their natural habitat. Our self –catering chalets are situated on the bank of the Olifants River enabling our visitors to spend hours watching the wildlife from the luxury of the visitor's area while having a braai or just relaxing with friends. The Reserve has 7 thatch-roofed chalets and a large thatch roofed dormitory for large groups. Accommodation is modern, comfortable and cleaned daily. Towels are not provided. Catering is also available on request. We have a superb central lapa equipped with a braai area and full views across the Olifants River. The river is lit during evenings and often animal activity can be observed while enjoying a braai. Hear the lion roar, hyena laugh and hippo “talking” at night around the camp. Our experienced guides will take you on game drives where you can see animals such as lion, leopard, rhino, giraffe and elephant. The more adventurous can go for a walk with a qualified guide to meet the animals in their own world, and also experience the smaller wonders of creation. Keen for some bird watching, then Struwig is the spot. One can view fish eagles, puffback, kingfishers, waxbills, waders and if you are fortunate, the pells fishing owl. Struwig is a private reserve which gives our guests exclusive use of our property and that of our neighbouring reserves.
