Madrid Farm Cottages comprises three self-catering cottages situated in the garden on the Madrid Farm, which has been in the Mousley family for 143 years. The cottages feature open-plan living areas with fully equipped kitchens and fireplaces, as well as private barbecue areas.
Enjoy the ever-changing colours of the mountains from the veranda, with spectacular views over the garden and mountains. Wood is available for sale in Clarens but not on site.
The Golden Gate National Park is approximately 12 km away and here visitors can enjoy many different hiking trails. The scenery is spectacular and the rock formations in the area offer many photographic opportunities. There are also horse riding facilities nearby.
We strive to provide peace and quiet and a home away from home.
Family friendly: We don't cater particularly for entertaining children but they are welcome to run about and play anywhere in the large garden. There is also a large flat grassed area which used to be a tennis court and which is great for ball games.

This was the best weekend in a long time ,to weaken up with birds singing and duck's make quacking ,fresh air and the view is amazing.
Excellent hosts and place. The accommodation had everything that a family would require and was neat and clean.

Very well situated, half way between Clarens and the Golden Gate National Park.
Cozy cottage, surrounded by lovely gardens. Sunshine cottage had all the essential amenities one requires as a self-catering place. Ingrid, the owner is super friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely return in the near future.

We had a wonderful, private and relaxation stay at Sunset. Mousley family and neighbours are friendly and helpful. 🤭🤭🙆🙆 Ooh Mountains view, one can only see God's greatness. 💃💃👋Trees and garden Oooh what an amaizing Creation. We were actually lucky course we had one night rain. We are from North West Province - Potchefstroom.

Madrid Farms are a little piece of heaven!
We stayed in the sunset cottage, aptly names as every afternoon we watched the sunset from our patio. On hot afternoons we rested underneath the shade of the weeping willow and watched the birds in the trees. During the cold evenings we lit a fire in the lounge. The gardens are beautifully kept so taking stroll around the property is a charming treat, however each cottage has their own semi private garden, so our stay was private and uninterrupted. There is no TV and barely any cell phone signal, so this really is the place you can escape from the world and enjoy each others company. The self catering kitchen had everything we needed and the property is immaculately kept and very clean!
The cottages are approx 10km from both Golden Gate and Clarens, so perfectly located for day trips to both locations.
I couldn't recommend Madrid Farm Cottages more and cannot wait to return for another relaxing weekend.
I unfortunately had to cancel my stay in Clarens due to personal reasons. But hope to visit the region in the near future.

Love the mountains for a nice hike.
A variety of restaurants and shops to explore.
We love exploring Golden Gate, wondering through the shops in the Town and visiting our favourite Clarens Brewery. We enjoy supporting the smaller farm restaurants in the area. Highland Brew was a lovely new addition to this trip.
Variety
Main roads to town are recommended for daylight use only. Small town atmosphere but with a wide variety of activities and stores. The annual Titanic Challenge Trail Run was my main attraction - stunning views!
Everything....food, quality of shops...felt safe...clean...friendly people....
Love all the shops and restaurants there is. Surrounded by mountains. Perfect breakaway for winter or summer.

Small, quaint, but very lively little town with spectacular views all around. Hiking is a must and can be done on the edge of town. We stayed at Views and the hiking trail was on our back door. Beautiful, beautiful little town offering great food, culture, entertainment and beautiful hiking trails.
