28 December 2019
What a fantastic Lodge. They had bad luck the previous day as their transformer was struck by lightening, and when we arrived there was no electricity or water. Eskom took 2 days to restore, but we had amenities that night. Unfortunately our water was interrupted for a few days, but was NOT a deal breaker. Mari was very accommodating and Marnie helped restore as much as he could.
The Lodge is fantastic, with Upper Class Chalets and spotless grounds. The Chalets are HUGE and have everything you require for your stay, including covered garage, and an inside braai. There is an outside braai area with a firepit for your sole use. The swimming pools Hot and Cold are lovely, with the cold pool being 28 degrees during our stay due to the excessive heat at the time 23rd to 27th December 2019.
All the staff are also awesome.
While there we saw Kudu, Impala, Squirrel and Monkeys. Also a pair of Leopards had moved into the conservancy and we were informed to be on the lookout for them. Very exciting indeed.
All in All I would recommend this venue to anyone who wants a nice quiet holiday or breakaway for the weekend. Although the Lodge was full, it was never really noisy. Mari gave everybody that week free Breakfasts and on Xmas day a lovely lunch which we paid for.
Please know this is in the Bush and things can and do go wrong sometimes, but the quick reaction by staff to any problems, is a sign about how much they care, and want you to enjoy your stay.
While you are there Mari adds you to the Thaba WhatsApp to advise everyone what is happening, which I thought was a nice touch, nowhere else have we been with this type of communication.
I suggest that you take 5l bottles of water with you, as well mosquito spray. The mozzies were there but not a huge problem, but better to be safe than sorry.
We will definitely be back, it was a wonderful 5 days away, and we would go for 7 days next time.
