Akkerboom Country Cottages comprises three self catering cottages nestled along a stream between the LangebergMountains and the Little Karoo on a working fruit farm. The cottages offer an ideal family holiday venue two and a half hours from Cape Town where children can play in a stream below 300 year old oak trees. The farm lies 38km from Montagu at the top of the Op de Tradouw pass between Montagu and Barrydale on Route 62 and offers stunning views along the Langeberg. We farm apples, pears and plums which are packed on the farm at Tradouw Fruit Packers.

This farm stay was exactly what we needed - peace and quiet after a hectic year.
Plumbago Cottage is very comfortable and has everything you need for a delightful stay. Perfect service from Susan. I really recommend Akkerboom as an affordable and relaxing place for a chilled holiday.
Quiet and serene. The perfect get-away. I am hoping to go again soon.
Lovely restful weekend away. NIce walks in the farm lands and gorgeous views. House basic but has all the necessities.
Quiet relaxing. We stayed at the Plumbego Cottage. Susan is a fantastic host. Will definitely go again.
A very quiet place to go and chill out with family.
This is a lovely location to relax and unwind. If you want to unwind and forget about the world this is the place to visit. The cottage was clean and well equipped. The beds are very comfortable. They are close to Barrydale and Montagu so you can ride out if you want to. But the place is so nice and relaxing you don't want to go anywhere. We will definitely be back.
Very nice and chilled.
Great location, very friendly and welcoming staff. Clean facilities and awesome for kids to play and swim (bring tons of toys).
Great option if you are looking for sometime out and hoping to detox from technology and spend quality time with your family/kids - No TV in the units.
Thanks Susan for your friendly service and warm welcome!
Very quiet and serene place! Friendly people - and lots to do in Barrydale and Montagu.

Small beautiful country town!
Nature at its best. Lovely and friendly people who makes your visit all the better!
Milkshakes at Diesel and Cream!
A great place with a nice old school feel you don't get much anymore, Diesel and Cream and Blue Cow are 2 must stops for all! 👌
Beautiful town with an eclectic, diverse population.
Beautiful little town, close enough to Cape Town for a weekend getaway. Lots of quaint little shops and restaurants to keep you busy, but also allows you to just relax and recharge.
Very popular stop on Route 62, you won’t be disappointed!
Diesel and Creme always worth a visit and the local brewery is also a great spot. The Tradouws pass itself is amazingly beautiful and worth a visit for a picnic and a swim.
Diesel and Crème Vintage Restaurant, the vibe and the droëwors!
