This is the perfect hideaway from the world.
The house has everything you need and some things that are delightfully unexpected. The view is spectacular (the décor is a close second) and we found ourselves staring out onto the mountains during a thunderstorm like it was prime-time television. The porch was made for reading, drawing, napping, eating and laughing as a family, and with the kitchen in the heart of the space, nobody was ever away from the conversation.

It was pure bliss...
The kind you don't actually want to write an honest review about because if other people know how fantastic it is, it will probably be booked the next time you want to go.
But then again, too good not to tell people about.

The house is gorgeous, it is beautifully furnished and so comfortable.
The veranda was our favourite part, as it has a beautiful view of the mountains. So it was the perfect place for a sundowner.
The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, they have a selection of spices that you can use. They also have a Nespresso machine, so if you bring your own pods, you can use it.
The only thing to keep in mind is that the 2 bedrooms upstairs have to use the bathroom at the bottom of the stairs, this was not a problem but it's something you need to be aware of.
The house is on an estate, and there is a lovely walk you can do down to a river and along it. The kids loved going down there to explore. There is also a little play area with a swing by the house, which the kids got lots of us out of as well.
If you enjoy mountain biking, you would be able to cycle on the estate and along the river, as we saw some other people mountain biking.
The house is about 2km out of Clarens, which is close enough for you to go into town to explore, have lunch, visit the brewery, etc.
Overall, it's just the perfect place for a quiet, relaxed getaway in one of the most beautiful parts of the country that isn't too far from Joburg.

Peace and quiet at Christmas time. A good Christmas lunch at Gosto restaurant (but beware the R100 cover charge per person). "Eat cheese" for a wonderful breakfast platter. Golden Gate in all its majesty.

It's a quaint little town that knows how to keep tourists happy. Stop in the town square on a weekend for a walk around the market and a cold beer at the brewery.
