Sunflower Cottage is a self-catering house, located in the heart of the village in McGregor, Western Cape and would be described as quaint and romantic. This cottage is perfect for couple getaways, who would like to explore this historical town and surrounding winelands in a nostalgic, tranquil environment.

Sunflower Cottage is a romantic self-catering cottage in McGregor, and is one of the oldest and most loved historical houses in the village.
Originally built in the 1880’s, its thick adobe walls, mud floors, reed ceilings and thatched roof are perfect natural insulators against the heat and cold of the Little Karoo. It is situated within easy walking distance of all shops and restaurants in McGregor.
The cottage features an en-suite double bedroom with a mozzie net draped over the bed and a second bedroom with 2 single beds. Please note, the inside bathroom is en-suite to the main bedroom, and there is an outdoor bathroom and shower as well. The second bedroom is therefore ideal for children or friends who do not mind sharing the main en-suite or using the outside bathroom.
The cottage also has an open plan kitchen with a small fridge and stove. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. There is a closed system fireplace for cosy winter evenings in the lounge.

There are braai facilities for those evenings when you don't want to cook up a storm, and you'll find undercover parking, a patio to enjoy sundowners, as well as a lush garden with hammock to relax in!

Features of Sunflower Cottage:
•1 x en-suite Double Bedroom with spacious mosquito net
•100% Cotton Bed Linen and Towels
•Memory foam double mattress overlay
•Second bedroom with 2 x single beds
•Fully Equipped Kitchen
•Secure Undercover Parking
•Large Patio and Braai Facilities
•Lush tranquil Garden (fully enclosed)
•Outside shower and toilet
•Hammock
•Writing desk for quiet thoughts
•Closed system fireplace for cosy Winter Evenings
•Daily Housekeeping (on request)
•Pets (on request)
•Wood-fired, hand-crafted pottery basins and vintage crockery add to the charm of the cottage.
•A digital retreat purposefully not equipped with wifi (although there are many cafes with wifi within walking distance if needed)

Sunflower Cottage is rustic, peaceful and has a lovely patio & garden. The cottage is old and facilities basic though more than adequate. Situated In a very quiet area, 3 minutes walk into McGregor Main Street. With restaurants etc.
We enjoyed our stay, very relaxing and we’re warmly welcomed by the house manager. The owner has left a very extensive local information folder, really useful. Highly recommended

We had an amazing family weekend break.
The Sunflower cottage is a historic monument and to think it was the way of living way back back then. Basics and a simplified life style rest in a modern society.
It got us enjoying each others company on the front porch for breakfast and the back stoep for lazy afternoons in the hammock.
The cottage has enough blankets and cotton bedding for the cold winter nights.
This inside fire place also made it extra cosy and warm at night.
Thank you for a lovely stay!

Enough good food and wine to enjoy without being commercialized and touristy. Enjoyed the countryside and being “away from it all”.
