Windhoek is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Namibia. It is located in central Namibia in the Khomas Highland plateau area, at around 1,700 metres (5,600 ft) above sea level, almost exactly at the country's geographical centre. The population of Windhoek in 2011 was 325,858, growing continually due to an influx from all over Namibia.
Suiderhof is situated in the southern part of Windhoek and thus centrally located to most businesses and shopping malls.

What to do and to see in Windhoek:
History-interested? There’s quite a bit to see, ranging from Heroes’ Acre outside of Windhoek, to the Independence Museum of Namibia and the Christuskirche in town. These sights cover everything from German colonial influence to local cultural heritage.
Nature-freaks can visit the Tintenpalast Gardens across from the old parliament buildings, or head over to the Botanical Gardens that are right in town or to the Avis Dam Nature Reserve to familiarise yourself with the local flora and fauna.
Windhoek is fairly easy to navigate, making it ideal for walking tours and casual sightseeing.
