The existing buildings on Porcupine Peak Farm dates back to 1875, and are comprised of a farm house and 4 cottages, all beautifully renovated offering guests a welcoming bygone feeling

Each cottage features a fully equipped kitchen, a living area, and a patio with braai facilities.

Close to the top of Rooihoogte pass, at the entrance to the beautiful Koo Valley, sits Porcupine Peak Farm. 489 ha of rugged Karoo rock and shale terrain with magnificent mountain vistas of the Langeberg Mountain range, indigenous Fynbos, a river lined with majestic oak trees, pear and apricot orchards and a perennial spring of bottling quality water. Fauna includes the rooikat, duiker, did-dik (buck), porcupine, wild rabbits, tortoises and frogs. The Black Eagle is often seen circling above Porcupine Peak, one of the many bird species that can be spotted on the farm.

The new owners renamed the farm Porcupine Peak due to the numerous amounts of porcupine quills found in the impressive kloof above the mountain cottage and rockpool. Previously it was known as Waboom Mountain Farm, named after the mountain range on the property.

Activities include hiking, exploring the kloof and locating the source of the spring high above, mountain biking, quad biking, swimming in the rockpool or the two dams, making your own pizza in our traditional pizza oven, picking fruit in season, and just soaking up the magnificent surroundings.

There are a variety of things to do in the area, including zip lining, kloofing, tractor rides and nature trails, on foot or bike. Montagu's hot springs and restaurants are 40 kms away and the well-known Aquila Game Farm, offering the Big Five, is only 50kms away, making Porcupine Peak an excellent, and much more affordable, accommodation option.
