La Provence Wine Estate is located within a few minutes’ drive from the charming Franschhoek with its renowned restaurants, shops and galleries.

The estate offers Self-catering or B&B Cottages situated in lush gardens overlooking vineyards and the Franschhoek Mountains. Each unit offers a comfortable double bed, king-size bed or single beds and a private bathroom. The kitchenettes are equipped for self-catering with a small stove, oven, microwave, tea and coffee facilities and utensils. Guests can relax in the cosy lounge area which has a TV with DStv as well as a cosy fireplace on those chilly days. Each unit also has a veranda with barbecue facilities. We serve hearty breakfasts on the terrace of the historic manor house; we offer a cold buffet or a full English breakfast.

During summer, guests can cool down in the spring-water pool, play a game of tennis or take a walk next to the river. During winter, guests can relax in front of their private fireplaces or explore the winelands.

There are various activities on the farm such as cellar tours with wine tasting or hiking through the vineyards, around the orchard and along the Franschhoek River. When visiting La Provence in November, guests are welcome to pick and pack peaches and in late February and March, the grapes are harvested and guests are invited to join the picking with their own basket or to taste the fresh grape juice during the crushing and pressing process.

Cape Town is within an hour’s drive and Paarl and Stellenbosch are only 20 minutes away; La Provence Wine Estate is the ideal base for a wine lands holiday.

We stayed at La Provence in the Chardonnay Cottage. We received a very warm welcome from the hosts, Carin and Jan, and they went above and beyond, helping us out when we found ourselves without transport. We are very grateful to them. They provide a lovely, comfortable space, they are considerate and friendly, and they are dedicated to providing a lovely stay for their guests. The cottages are also very affordable (in comparison to similar accommodation in Franschoek), located on a beautiful farm witha gorgeous, natural swimming pool, among other interesting bits and bobs - like a collection of vintage cars. Highly recommend staying at this lovely accommodation!

Really enjoyable place to stay. Well equipped (and daily serviced), comfortable, clean, spacious accommodation (cottage number 3). Charming hosts .... Carin & Johan and (six) very friendly collie dogs. A "must" is a guided tour of Johan's vintage car collection accompanied by a detailed description of Johan's wine making process (in the "vat house").
When we are in Franschhoek next year (hopefully), a return visit is on the cards.

After battling through the Friday afternoon traffic we arrived to an oasis of greenery peace and tranquility at La Provence. Our hostess Carien and the dogs were very welcoming and we had a wonderful experience albeit a short one. I would and will recommend La Provence to my family and friends.

This was my second stay at La Provence. I returned because as before the stay was just wonderful. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is relaxed. It is an authentic working vineyard with no fancy frills just as it should be. I love it there. And best of all are the incredible breakfasts on the verandah overlooking the rose garden and vineyards. For history buffs, there is also an interesting collection of old cars and equipment. I recommend this farmstay very highly and it my place of choice when visiting Franschhoek.

The place is not pretentious and it has got all the necessities. We were 4 couples and we all stayed next to each other.

The village vibe and how safe it is. Also, everyone can walk to where they want to go, instead of getting into a car every time.

What a fantastic experience on the Franschoek Wine Tram! 10 stars from us. Take some time to research which estates you would like to visit to choose the best route. We chose the Grey route and stopped at Franschoek Cellar, Leopards Leap and Rickety Bridge as these were all child friendly options. We will definitely be back without the kids ;) Also, great service and food at the River Café.
