A mere hour and a half drive from Durban, this retreat is set on the fringe of the 240 hectare indigenous Dlinza Forest with its abundant birdlife and aerial boardwalk. It is a great stopover for exploring the Zulu Kingdom and Route 66.
Bishops Guest House Eshowe is a magnificent colonial home built in 1891 for the Bishop of Zululand. It has recently been refurbished, keeping the original architecture but with modern finishes, and offers Nine generous comfortable en-suite rooms. The stately residence has exceptional ambience and Old-School character, ideal for Functions and Conferences. Eshowe Bishops Guesthouse has convenient access to shopping centres, restaurants, museums, Eshowe Hills Golf Course, and The Zululand Brewing Company. Area Information:This is a bird watchers delight! Dlinza Forest, which is in the heart of Eshowe, hosts birds like the elusive Spotted Ground- Thrush , while above Delegorgue's Pigeons can be heard throughout the summer months making their loud ascending then descending call. To the west of Eshowe is the Entumeni Nature Reserve, which has a forest superficially similar to Dlinza forest but hosting different birds like Yellow-streaked Bulbuls and African Broadbill which do not occur in Dlinza.
