Mosamane is an eco-friendly, self-catering lodge. Besides the donkey that provides warm water for the dormitory bathrooms, the rest of the lodge works on gas and solar. The renovated barn on Mosamane farm was converted into a lovely 5 bedroom lodge (all en suite) which accommodates up to 17 people. All the bedrooms as well as the communal living area have fire places. One bunch of wood per day will be provided for the fireplaces. The dormitory accommodates 7 people on single beds walking out onto a covered deck area. It has an ablution block with six toilets, six showers with warm water from gas geysers, an undercover sundowner area. There are 2 built in braai areas in 2 of the kitchens as well as an open air Boma. The more formal open plan kitchen/lounge has a gas oven but no braai area. All 3 kitchens are fully equipped with fridges, kettles, cutlery, gas stoves pots and pans etc.
Activities on Mosamane includes hiking (9 km and 3km), mountain biking (16 km), bird watching. Pure relaxation and reading on our wide verandas is equally popular! Our rolling montana grasslands, mountain fynbos, valley bushveld, kloof forests, mini canyon and sandstone cliffs are quite spectacular. The farm is situated 6 km south of the Eastern Free State village of Rosendal on the R70 half way between Senekal and Ficksburg (40 km). The rustic sandstone village of Rosendal boasts a high quality restaurant and a variety of art and curio shops.

We had a wonderful stay. Amazing hiking trails - a bit overgrown and unclear at times- but it was spectacular. Very quiet and tranquil place. The hosts are extremely accommodating and friendly. We visited twice in one month. We plan to go again..

Mosamane Guset Farm is an ideal get-away if you want to escape the busy city. Just note that it is quite far away from Fickburg, about 30mins drive although the road isn't bad at all. Definetely recommend this one!
