Caprivi Mutoya Lodge & Campsite  Verified Listing

Caprivi Mutoya Lodge, a small owner-run lodge, is situated in a small riverine forest, on the banks of a tranquil backwater lake of the Zambezi River, approximately 24km east of Katima Mulilo. A variety of accommodations include contemporary standard rooms, luxury tents, standard safari tents in the campsite and a campsite. Leading off the restaurant and bar is a deck area offering magnificent views and sunsets. Activities include boat cruises, canoeing, forest walks, village tours and floodplain drives.

Also on offer is a nature-inspired workshop/conference pavilion set amongst ancient indigenous trees.

The air-conditioned standard rooms and luxury tents have been fitted out with bed linen, mosquito nets, fans and lamps. We have electrical power in all of these rooms (3 pronged plugs). Attached to each room is an en-suite shower.

The three luxury tents have a separate sharing kitchen with a fridge, a gas burner, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, a table and benches and a barbeque/braai.

Only in the standard rooms are air-conditioners and fridges.

The lodge is only 24kms from Katima Mulilo, which is a small border town, and has enough shops for those wishing to top up on groceries and drinks while travelling through. There is an airport that has weekly flights from/to Windhoek.

Facilities on offer includes a bar and restaurant, small seating area with satellite television (DSTV), books and games; and access to limited WIFI. Surrounding the restaurant is a large wooden deck, with a fire pit, offering stunning lake views and sunsets. There is also a small swimming pool for those wishing to cool off on sweltering hot days.

Also on offer are a variety of activities. Guests can row out on canoes to view crocodiles, hippos and the myriad of birds the lake has to offer. Boat outings are also on available for fishing, sundowners and bird viewing. Fishing is done from either our boats on the lake, or organised for on the main Zambezi River. The arrays of fish that can be caught include tiger fish, barbel, pike, a variety of bream and other lesser-known species. Caprivi Mutoya supports catch and release.

For those only wanting to relax, nature watching can be done from the restaurant deck overlooking the water. Nature walks can also be taken around the lodge and within the surrounding forests. Trips to view Southern Africa’s largest Carmine Bee Eater’s colony can also be arranged.

Day tours can be organised to either Bwabwata National Park in Namibia, Chobe National Park in Botswana or Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

Also on offer is a nature-inspired workshop/conference pavilion set amongst ancient indigenous trees. Mutoya Pavilion can seat up to 30 people in a spacious venue and is ideal for conferences, workshops, training courses, corporate team-building and social events.

Though the pavilion only has large open-air window openings with roll-down canvas blinds, we will still offer fans for sweltering hot African summers. For snacks and meals these are catered for in our main lodge bar/restaurant, only a couple of minutes walk from the pavilion.

Our "Premier" rate also include an afternoon sunset cruise on a large pontoon boat where guests can get to see crocodiles, hippos and a myriad of birds, making this is a fabulous way to end a conference. We can also organise small events on the boat.

Situated on the upper Zambezi we are very close to a few wildlife attractions, such as Chobe National Park in Botswana, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Bwabwata National Park in Namibia. Day tours can be organised to all these parks.

We also have the largest colony of Carmine Bee-eaters approximately 10 kms from us on the main Zambezi River.
