The Purple House in Smithfield (owned by Johann Greeff, the Uncle of singer and TV star Karen Zoid) is one of the oldest, most funkiest, air conditioned and grooviest guest houses in the Free State. Our generator offers power and water during blackouts and load shedding
This Guest House is run by Johann himself and is always available. He knows the importance of wonderful rooms and beds, great service and friendliness. He is quite laid back and will be most happy to welcome you in his home.
You will be part as friends for sure! On offer is FREE Wi-Fi internet for all guests! Come stay where guests like Radio Kalahari Orkes group, Manuel Escorcio, Petronel Baard, Karen Zoid family, Jannie du Toit and many other Groovies have stayed. The house has it's own Cinema.
Breakfast can be arranged at R80 per person.

Arrived with two dogs…charming host Johan then provided a super dinner rump steak and gorgeous vegs… warm cosy bed with everything I needed for a very cold night… huge breakfast… honestly highly recommended… I will def go again ! Bridget
Johan was an excellent host going out of his way to make us feel at home. Loads of stories, great cook & we even had a morning serenade (he plays guitar and sings too) with breakfast. Would certainly stay there again.
This was such a lovely fun guest house. We loved the rooms and all the decor. Thank you for being such a fun host.

The best breakfast ever.
We arrived in Smithfield when the whole town was cut off from power. But our host made us feel home. Het took us to his local sports club pub. Later in the evening, when he wanted to check at the restaurant if we could go there for dinner, they told him it was closed, because of no power. Now.. this is Africa, and our host made a plan. He went home with us, and used magic to get us a marvelous dinner. By the next morning the electricity was on again. After a good breakfast we left... nice experience
