Tamboershoek farm is surrounded by the Nuweveld Mountains, in the vastness of the Great Karoo. It is a place of ever changing and beautiful scenery where you will find peace and tranquillity with endless hiking possibilities.
Tamboershoek offers a two-bedroom self-catering chalet with two en-suite bathrooms. The chalet sleeps four guests on double or single beds. The chalet is fully equipped. Bedding and towels are provided. There is no electricity, but the chalet is supplied with gas kitchen appliances and oil lamps. There are no cell phone reception, no TV, no Internet - only a cozy fireplace and stunning views.
Tamboershoek is a working farm with the vibrant farm lifestyle of sheep and game. With farming comes the most unexpected surprises that only daily life on a Karoo farm can offer you. You may experience an unexpected snow storm or the most beautiful sunsets, a chilly, frosty morning in winter or a serene, dark and balmy night in summer with spectacular stars..
The farm is situated in the Northern Cape, directly on the border of the Western Cape, making it ideal for bird watchers to catch that elusive bird over the border.
As we cherish our heritage and acknowledge the extreme frailness of the Karoo ecosystem, no quad bikes or scramblers are allowed in the veld. Mountain bikes are welcome. There are no formal hiking trails, but the entire farm of 5000 ha is available for hiking.

Great little cottage in the middle of nowhere. My wife and I loved it so much as we live in London. It's a place where you can just reset your mind from all the hustle and bustle of a busy city. We enjoy visiting South Africa, and cant wait to return.
