Heritage Guest House, previously a small hotel built in 1852, has been converted to a guest house and is located in Alexandria, Eastern Cape.
There is unique mix of different sizes and style of rooms. The original kitchen was outside and there was a stable block as well, which now houses the laundry and a kitchen, which guests are welcome to use for their own catering. Many of the original features still remain, such as the beautiful yellow wood floors and sash windows.Apart from the flat, all the rooms are upstairs, and are reached by a flight of stairs.
The Guest House offers accommodation in 14 rooms and a flat. Each room is equipped with a heater, ceiling fan, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and a TV with local channels however some rooms have selected DStv channels. The rooms offer the same facilities but some are small, some are spacious, some have views of the garden and some have views of the street. With the exception of room 14 and the flat, none of the rooms are big enough to take an extra bed, so children would need to share with their parents. The comfortable self-catering flat has a double bed and a single bed. The bathroom has a large shower. There is a lounge area with a TV, an extra bed and a dining area. The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, a microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. At the rear of the building, safe off-road parking and a large tree filled garden with abundant bird life create an oasis of peace and tranquility. A braai area can be found under one of these lovely trees.
We are known for our delicious country-style breakfasts. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room but it can be ordered when required.
Whether you have come to Alexandria on business, are breaking a long journey, or are exploring nearby game reserves, hiking trails and beaches, this promises to be your home from home.
