Fisaasbos – its name derived from ‘Fisante bos’ meaning Pheasant’s Bush – is located on Remhoogte, a working fruit farm in the cul de sac of the Tulbagh valley. The harvest: apples, pears, cling peaches and prunes; lots of prunes.
The renovated thatched cottage, perched on the hilltop overlooking the valley and guarded by the peaks of the Winterhoek, has served as secondary house and bachelor’s cottage to the main farm since the 1940s. The cottage is an extended rondawel with three (round) bedrooms: two doubles and one sleeping four on bunk beds. One double room claims a fireplace, the other the en suite bathroom (shower and bath). A second bathroom serves the rest. All linen and towels are provided.
Don Quixote’s kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering purposes, with dishwasher, stove + 2 plate gas, microwave, fridge, old school filter coffee machine and the rest. The living room opens up to the front stoep, with views stretching across the valley, all the way to town and beyond.
Area Information:The Tulbagh 'basin', in the winelands of the Western Cape province, is drained by the Klein Berg River and its tributaries. The valley is framed by mountains on three sides, with Fisaasbos se Huis nestled in its cul de sac.
Property Facilities:A backyard braai is set in the shade of some giant oak trees and with a view up the mountain slopes, cliffs and kloofs. And then there’s a sprawling lawn with pecan trees. BYO hammock! Barbecue grid, utensils and wood are provided, for both the braai and indoor fireplace.
Pets are allowed but should be kept from wandering off. Good cell phone reception. (Even better when ignored.)

Our stay at Fisaasbos farm house was wonderful. Very peaceful, pretty and relaxing.
Took a walk through the lovely orchards with stunning views over Tulbagh valley.
House was well equipped, clean and spacious.

Scenery
Wine, scenery, sunset
Beautiful, historic and quaint little town. Stroll down church street and have a roosterkoek at Kole & Deeg. Highly recommend the Gin Yard at Vindoux wine farm. The Spar gets ridiculously busy on long weekends so rather come prepared unless you want to stand in line for 30 mins. The Tulbagh Nursery is awesome if you’re into gardening and plants. And take the Bain’s Kloof pass if you want a beautiful scenic route!

We found Tulbagh to be close enough to Cape Town for a quick weekend away with family & friends.
Clean town with stunning wine farms, wine tasting and lovely restaurants.
Very picturesque with great hiking, mountain biking trails.
Lots of convenient shops in the town.
Can't wait for our next visit.
We loved our Sunday lunch at Tulbagh Hotel and Champagne tasting at Krone.
We went to Essere lodge for a weekend and loved it! Have done many wine tastings at the surrounding farms, love going there often.
