Welcome to Die Berghut.
Die Berghut offers unique and comfortable accommodation situated 3km in the mountain under a huge rock on a beautiful farm called Groenhoek. It is only approximately 16km from Zastron in the Free state. The perfect tranquil breakaway with loved ones and a true experience like no other.
The lovely secluded hideaway is fully equipped for your self-catering needs and has a double and 2 single beds with a very neat little bathroom. Linen is provided however you would please need to bring your own towels along.
There is no electricity which adds to the great breakaway into nature. However there is a gas stove, fridge, geyser and battery light, "long drop toilet with a spectacular view."
Guests can relax and admire the magnificent views of the Maluti Mountains in the east and Lady Grey in the south as well as enjoy genuine camp fires and a star-strewn velvet sky at night. There is a braai area and a farm dam to take a dip and unwind on those hot summer days.
You can become one with the Transgariep and explore the 7 km hiking trail.
Please note that Die Berghut is only accessible with a vehicle that has HIGH GROUND CLEARANCE AND IS BACK WHEEL DRIVE or with a 4x4. However if your vehicle is not suitable, the wonderful hosts will transport you while your vehicle is safely parked at the farmhouse. Transport fees applies. Regrettably Die Berghut is not pet friendly.

This rugged little cottage built into the underside of a massive rock, is both quaint and peaceful. There can be no doubt that the soul receives energy when in a place like this.
The walk up over "Die Berg" is an awesome experience, with magnificent views and scenery well worth exploring.
Highly recommended for those who like something a little out of the ordinary.
