Skaapplaas offers a accredited 10km circular, easy to moderate hiking trail. Accommodation is available in a arty, well equipped, self-catering cottage as well as a rustic bush hut.

This one day hiking trail initially ascends in a valley through an indigenous forest, fynbos and wattles. It leads to a beautiful view over the Ruiterbos valley and the sea at Mossel Bay. The major attractions of the trail are waterfalls and swimming holes. Two sets of interesting Bushman paintings can be viewed. The return route follows the Kouma river (with many pools) reaching a sudden climb up the face of the valley.
