Whether you're a nature lover or outdoor enthusiast, Valley of the Rainbow Mountain Fly Fishing Estate and Nature Reserve is an incredible place to be all year round.

Surrounded by mountains, indigenous forests and rivers and with a mild climate and malaria free this is a venue to experience peace and tranquillity away from city life.

The diversity of fauna and flora is exceptional for the area, with a variety of birds, indigenous tree species and wildlife species evident.

Valley of the Rainbow offers 4 different types of accommodation:

The Country House is decorated in a classic country style and offers five luxurious double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and access to the veranda, with a magnificent view over the valley, indigenous forest and mountains. The Country House is rented out as a self-catering unit and accommodates a maximum of 10 persons.

There are 5 Luxury Tented Chalets which provide the more adventurous guests the opportunity to experience nature in comfortable accommodation. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom, front seating deck with kitchenette and views over one of the lakes in the valley. The 4 family chalets sleep four each and the honeymoon chalet with king size bed sleeps two persons comfortably. Fully equipped for self-catering.

Guests have a choice of five suites in the Manor House, each with a comfortable lounge area and a well appointed en-suite bathroom. There are 2 Classical Suites, 2 Luxury Suites and 1 Standard Suite. Accommodation in the Manor House suites is provided on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis with meals served in the dining room of the Manor House. With its artistic and stylish decor, this creates the perfect setting for fine dining and social atmosphere.

New to Valley of the Rainbow are three Luxury Log Cabins. Situated in a secluded valley. Each Log Cabin sleep two guests, are fully equipped for self catering.

Property Facilities:
The Manor House has a spacious lounge with an open fire-place for cold winter evenings, bar, dining room with fireplace, library and TV. The spacious deck overlooks a river running through the valley, gardens, forests, mountains and lakes.

Meals can be taken in the Manor House at an extra price for self-catering guests.

The restaurant offers a superb menu, incorporating South African Cuisine with international presentation and standards. A comprehensive wine list complements the food beautifully.

Area Information:
Valley of the Rainbow Estate and Nature Reserve is an exclusive property located in valleys surrounded by mountains, near the picturesque towns of Dullstroom and Belfast, Mpumalanga, South Africa. Dullstroom is a picturesque fly-fishing village with a variety of shops and restaurants. The resort is an exclusive retreat that combines the extraordinary beauty of an awe-inspiring natural landscape with the convenience and hospitality of a luxury resort.

Sprawling over almost 1000 hectares mountains and cradled in a valley surrounded by mountains the venue is a sanctuary of indigenous forests, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Visitors will experience the peace and tranquillity of the venue, prolific birdlife including 5 kingfisher species, the fish eagle and endangered blue crane, variety of game including buck, vervet monkey, bush pig, cerval cat and the clawless otter.

The leisure resort is only 2 hours drive, on a national highway, from Johannesburg and Pretoria, making short holiday breaks or a stop-over to the game reserves a pleasure.

The Country House: open plan lounge, dining room and TV room, veranda and fully equipped kitchen. 5 double bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom.

Luxury Tented Chalets: en-suite bathroom, front seating deck with kitchenette which is fully equipped for self-catering.

Manor House Classical Suites: large room with lounge area, 1 king sized bed, television with shared DStv bouquet and en-suite bathroom (Bath only).

Manor House Luxury Suites: large room with lounge area, 2 King size beds, television with Bouquet DStv selection, a small Bar fridge and en-suite bathroom (Bath & Shower).

Manor House Standard Suite: cosy room with 1 king size bed, small lounge area and en-suite bathroom (Shower only).

Attractions:
Surrounding attractions include: The Historic Water Mill which has been operating for more than 100 years and is still in a working condition. It was in use during the Anglo Boer War. Archaeological stone ruins are situated in the mountains on the Estate. Near Laersdrif, 12 kilometers from Valley of the Rainbow, there is a historial police station which was imported during the Anglo Boer War for use as a Post Office. There is also a stone church with a dome which is over 100 years old. Mapoch's Caves are a historic site for Ndebele people with an interesting history. Situated near Roossenekal, approximately 30 km from Valley of the Rainbow. Adventure activities include Fly Fishing in rivers and lakes,, Hiking and Birding trails, Mountain biking trails. Picnics can be arranged with activities in the forests and on the archaeological sites in the mountains.

Dinner at the Dullstroom Inn Hotel was excellent and well-priced. The town itself is pretty, but once you've been through it, there's not too much else to do.
