The shabby chic décor creates a time-worn atmosphere, and the distressed furniture with soft pastel furnishings relate to the relaxed surroundings. Ideal for groups or families who wish to be situated close to each other, but still maintain some privacy.

This Garden Route accommodation is the perfect home base for independent travelers who are self-touring the Garden Route, as well as families and small groups wishing for an affordable stay. At the Beyond Urban farm style cottages, you will be surrounded by beautiful grassy lawns, and spoiled by the exquisite sunsets that the Tsitsikamma area has to offer.

Beyond Urban's cottages were the first structures to be built on the Misty Mountain Farm in 1980. Initially, these were constructed for labourers who worked on the farm, but they have now been restored to our relaxed rustic cottages.

The inhabitants of these quaint cottages worked on the original dairy farm that was located on the site. The farm workers used to start work at 4 am with their daily chores that included; milking the cows, feeding the calves and ensuring the mielie fields are in good standing. Being part of such a small community would ensure that plenty of daily laughs and stresses were shared amongst the workers. Today, we aim to honour this strong sense of community by having cottages that have a central focus and limited privacy. Additionally, a shared boma will ensure that night times are pleasantly spent around a fire, staying true to the South African culture.

Beyond Urban Cottages is surrounded by many wild animal sanctuaries and adventurous activities including Quad Bike Tours, canopy tours, bungy jumping, Ziplining, segway and much more. The incredibly beautiful area of land that lies between the Tsitsikamma Mountains and the sea stretches west to the Bloukrans River and east to Eerste River, and is named after the San word that means a place of abundant water. The area is like a treasure trove; overflowing with protected indigenous forest that bears ancient trees like Yellowwood, hard pear, Stinkwood, and ironwood; fynbos covered landscape and the appearance of entrancing animals and birds, like the shy Knysna loerie.

Described as the garden of the garden route, the Tsitsikamma actually deserves a more vivid description to encapsulate the beauty of the place. Far from being a garden, the Tsitsikamma is a place where magic and the ancient have merged to create a fairytale.
