Karoo Ridge Eco-lodges are set on Karoo Ridge Conservancy (55km from Middelburg), a 5 000ha working farm, farming for biodiversity, we run indigenous Nguni and Watusi cattle alongside wildlife. The eco-lodges are booked exclusively so you can enjoy your privacy. The River Lodge is set in a tranquil valley with wonderful scenery. Simply and tastefully furnished it is the perfect place to getaway to and relax. Perfect for families with small children. There is a trampoline, sandpit, plunge pool and toy box available. The Mountain Lodge is perfect for small families with older children or couples. Set up in the foothills of the mountains with beautiful Karoo vistas.
Built as spacious homes from recycled materials The River Lodge 4 bedrooms (3/4 beds) and can sleep a maximum of 8 people. Two bedrooms are en-suite and the other 2 share a bathroom. All bedrooms open onto an open plan central living area. The kitchen is equipped for self -catering. The cottage opens up onto a large veranda for plenty of outside living. There is a braai/barbeque facility available on the veranda.
For the adventurous guests there are self-guided walks, hikes or bike rides along farm tracks or guests can explore at their own leisure through the karoo veld. We encourage interest in the smaller things like flowers, birds, insects and also encourage visitors to join us in everyday farming activities should it interest them.
Only the River Lodge is pet friendly and we do request dogs are kept under supervision while walking.
